A Magnolia Inspired Halloween

Joanna Gaines has become a huge inspiration for us home decorating enthusiasts with her simplistic, rustic glam, and neutral palette inspired style. She has SO many interesting ideas on how to make a home comfortable, relaxing, and overall, a cozy indulgence.

Combining inspiration from Gaines’ work, along with the style, color palette, and mood of her Magnolia brand, see below for Halloween decor ideas that are bold, edgy, and jawdropping, yet makes one feel right at home. I’m asking you to conjure up your inner Joanna this spooky season… your house will thank you. (:

Metal Basket filled with autumn comforts

Using a neutral linen throw as the base, I filled this gold basket with black and white pumpkins, creating contrast and coziness. Adding a lantern and some paper leaves, eyecatching warmth was added to the room. Perfect for placing on the side of your fireplace (pictured here) but could look great in an entryway or any space needing a corner filled.

Fall Tabletop Bowl Display

One of my favorite decor tools is the decorative bowls made for tabletop use, to display whatever your heart desires. I don’t know about you, but these provide endless creative opportunities for me.

First pictured is a black pumpkin filled, open sided bowl. From a vintage store, this was originally a rust brown color, and if you know me, you know black is always my go-to. This worked out perfectly to give a dark, ominous edge to the simplistic Joanna style.

See below for a white pumpkin, cast iron filled bowl, as well as my final blend of the two colors into one centerpiece MASTERPIECE!

Cocktail Book meets Spooky Decor

One of my favorite creative “moments” this season. The neutral, candlelit aura with the pairing of the coffin, spider web, and crackled pumpkin gives off BIG Magnolia vibes. Tying in Gaines’ book as the base (buy it here), there was no way I couldn’t include it in this post!

TIP: if you are wanting a simple, cute coffin to feature in your home, look at Dollar Tree/Dollar General. They usually come in odd colors, but I spray painted this one white, and BOOM, perfect neutral fit.

Hearth & Hand meets Skeleton Bath

If you don’t have a skeleton relaxing in a bath of pumpkins, what are you doing? This comical and cozy blend was created using a serving bowl from the Magnolia line at Target, Hearth & Hand.

I added leather and velvet pumpkins around this Dollar Tree skeleton which I spray painted gold. Leather leaves encompass the bowl, and are featured with a pair of gold skeletal hands on the table to further bring the concept and color scheme outside of the bowl.

Victorian Goth meets Cow Print

This is my favorite Halloween entryway creation so far! Blending black and white, heightened columns, candlestick holders… and last but not least, cow print pattern, this decorative moment is a gothic, neutral, edgy mashup.

The candlestick holders were a vintage market find, and were distressed white. I knew spray painting them matte black would be so much bolder. The cow print catchall is from the brand, Myra Bag.

Beware: Rustic Charm

This entryway tabletop has so many different textures and elements, yet works SO well together. Before I go on, the spiderweb and Beware sign are BOTH from Dollar Tree!

An iridescent glass pumpkin (from At Home), burlap wrapped leather pumpkin, and a heightened clear vase of black spray painted bones, creates a quite unusually creepy atmosphere. See below for a close up!

Yes, that vase really DOES have bones in it!

RSVP: Skeleton Serving Hand Included

Last but not least, a dining table feast! Using Hearth & Hand plates in the color Sour Cream (buy them here) really offset my black dining table to boldly show off the plate’s EXTRA spooky styling.

Also note the centerpiece is that blend of white and black pumpkins in a gorgeous, gothic inspired decorative bowl featured earlier in the post.

See below for more close up detail!

The skeleton hands were originally hooked to the now black spray painted longer bones featured earlier in the post! After separating them, I spray painted the hands gold.
